The Last Great Action Movie

I consider Con Air and Face/Off the last of the classical action films of the genre. The Rock however being the final great.

This movie doesn't age one second.

You list either action sci-fi, other cross genre films, or films not as good as The Rock.

Their main genre though is action, each. That shouldn't discredit them from being an action movie. The Terminator is widely considered to be the best action movie of all time although it is a mix-genre.

You don't think Die Hard is regarded more highly than Terminator action-wise?

I think the OP is referring to classical blockbusters ("the classical action films of the genre" - the OP) from the late 80s throughout the 90s, the last bunch of its' kind before CGI and comic-book adaptations took over.

I agree. The list of films the second poster used are fantastic, but I think Con Air/ The Rock were the last greats of their generation.

The Matrix

Dumbed down remake of Welt am Draht with *beep* camera movement. Sequels were even worse and Keanu Reeves simply is not an actor

Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2

Lazy remake of Lady Snowblood mixed with Sex & Fury and some Wild West cliches in the second movie but like all Tarantino movies simply just a remake of 70's stuff with most scenes copied 1:1 (like the fight in the snow in Kill Bill 1, it's a badly reshot of the Scene in Lady Snowblood where it looks much better)

The Bourne Trilogy

Ahahahahaha. I thought we're talking action movies...

300

Comic book stupidity that led to an annoying meme, no substance, no class, not even a proper story

Avatar

CGI Remake of Pocahontas. I guess Virgin Nerds can jerk off to the graphics...

The Incredibles

One of the last, great, R-rated action extravaganza films.
