Was supposed to be a big movie in theaters !

I don't know if i'm the only one but I remember the trailer I saw during Ace Ventura 2 in summer 1995, I saw the trailer of ''Robinson Crusoe'' starring Pierce Brosnan, and even Eddie Murphy, it was a trailer that promise, i don't know if it was cancelled, but it took 2 years before I heard of it , and it don't comes out in theaters at least in US and Canada... and Eddie wasn't even in the movie... did they reshoot and it was another movie ? It was supposed to be a big movie, everyone was WOW, this is going to be good with James Bond 007 !! not a BBC like movie, and I only saw the movie like 4-5 years later, and it was released around 1997, it was supposed to be in 1995 !
