Goof? seriously?

Reguarding the goof listed here on imbd. Seriously, on the DVD and the film I am sure, the shot in question is a morning sillouette, and exposed as a sillouette. Whoever suggested this 'swimming sign' as a goof could only have noted it if the brilliance setting on their display unit was turned up to 100%. Yes, sure the sign, or at least half of it, can be seen, but not as the cinematographer exposed it. Seriously. Would that mean that anything I write on this site is wrong, simply because I cannot spell? We should be more concerned about the fact that this film was ignored and unreleased, yet currently 'Borat' 'Kenny' and (shudder) Epic Movie, are box office hits.

A little focus people!

Yes but in addition to the sign (very clearly visible)the base of the palm trees are painted white! Has Crusoe begun painting the trees to feel more civilized?

LOL
That said I liked the movie and thought his realization of his own intolerance was good.

I watched this movie unable to sleep one night on Netflix. Even in my advanced state of slumber I noticed this gaff. I had to rewind, I couldn't believe that a film with this type of budget allowed this through.

If you look closer you can see sun loungers in the distance.

Worse still and as the 'Goofs' section suggests (which I noticed in my viewing) on a fly over the island during one of the early voice over parts you can see luxury beach side apartments !!!!

The shape of the island kept changing also from the air. One shot made it look like a mono-volcanic island, then the other had multiple mountains etc etc.

Even worse still, clearly the parts in a wintry Britain were shot together but in the end sequence , his beau is holding summer flowers. Not even in the 1700s did they have the ability to preserve summers flowers in the winter.

I couldn't take the films seriously, even with Brosnan's awful Scottish accent and the fact that Friday was clearly far blacker than his fellow tribesmen.

Wow! You all must have incredible vision or watched it in slow motion. Just watched it after reading all the comments so I was looking for the goofs and I could not see them. At least not clearly, and I was watching in HD on a new HD tv. Even the no swimming sign, if it was that, was totally blacked out .

Read the book and this movie takes loads of liberty, but it was enjoyable and I think well done.

I never saw any of these goofs either, but I tend not to on a first time through. The only thing I did wonder about was it seemed like there was land across the way from his island, and not that far in case he wanted to go visit it. Ooops. But I liked this movie as well. I wouldn't know if Brosnan's accent were bad, and I don't care. Who really knows anyway? There are different Scottish accents, and who can tell if one is bad or not? If I read the book, it was too many years ago to remember, so I was fine with their adaptation. Besides, movies aren't books, and if you want the book, read the book. It's still around the last time I checked. I thought it was well done, too, and certainly not deserving of the panning some of the folks have given it here. I was touched by how Crusoe's relationship with Friday developed in a much different time where that kind of thing was almost unthinkable.

I saw the goofs without having previously read about them.

Also, while not really a goof, the final embrace at the very end, you can clearly tell that isn't Brosnan in the shot. Like the film itself, it just comes off as lazy.
