Where's The DVD?

Is this movie released on DVD anywhere yet?

reply

I'm glad you asked. This is a great film and I would love to have it as a DVD. Why does it seem to take so long for the powers that be to take advantage of the current technologies? Who uses VHS any more!?

I agree that this fine film should be released on DVD. It is a shame that the anonymous folks in charge of such matters spend so much time releasing blood, gore and splatter movies which are not worth preserving, and let significant, quality films such as this remain in the vaults. It is inexcusable.

It really should be, as this is an excellent version of Grey's book.

I am so suprised they don't have this on DVD still. I look all over and see some of the stupidest shows on DVD, but some really good westerns are no where to be found.

The DVD is now available. While I'd say Ed Harris' Appaloosa was a much better film, this is very good, with lots of outstanding moments and some wonderful scenery. The costumes and general authenticity struck me as very high quality, but I'm no expert.

The story was also very neatly edited for film, and the cast was admirable, although I'd pictured Bern as a little older, and a little bigger! Nevertheless, it made sense to separate the two couple by age - it never struck me as quite right that Jane was seen as a partner both for Bern and for Lassiter.

Well worth searching this out, and well worth watching.
