I also have to ask how in the hell was the budget of this movie $80 Million dollars?? OK OK i just looked it up to see that Mel got $20 Million for this movie! wow! Was gonna say that same year action movies like The Rock and Independence Day cost only $75 Million! Thats just crazy money and even then if he was getting 20 million I still think, why so much? I mean Apollo 13 was only $60+ Million and that was a period film set in space! They only had a few major sets I suppose, like Houston, the Odyssey and Jim Lovell's house.

Love the film, but gobsmacked at the cost! I guess it's not cheap to feed Mel Gibson lol

considering the movie grossed 300 million dollars worldwide it doesnt matter does it??

I am watching this movie right now and I was also shocked it cost $80 mil. Like you said I remember Independence Day costing around $70mil. But I am loving Ransom. Awesome movie.

Also, if you subtract Gibson's $20mil, the budget is still $60mil. Lol, that's crazy. It doesn't detract from how good this movie is, but still.
