is it worth watching?

When I first heard about this movie, it was for sure 1996 and the show had been canceled for some time. I loved the old TV series back in the day, but I was only 15 when this movie came out and I really lost interest in the show and was interested in seeing new TV shows. I saw "Project ALF" in the TV guide, I thought "what the heck is this?". I researched it a bit, and found out its a movie based on the old series, but I thought "You know, I'd rather not, its been canceled a while and I'm ready for new shows so I won't watch it". I mean, ALF had actually disappeared off the face of the earth in a way. After it was canceled, barely ANYONE talked about it anymore, and no tv stations were showing Reruns of it either. Pretty much all the fans of the old show were like me: they were interested in new things and also Alf was almost forgotten about.

Well, I'm alot older now, and a few months ago the "TV ON DVD" boom caught me and I bought the ALF season 1 DVD and I loved it. And lately I've been getting very nostalgic for 80s and 90s stuff, and I remembered the Project ALF movie. I'm wondering, is it worth seeing?

I was a big fan of the show, but from what I heard this really doesn't have anything to do with the show other than it's the sequal to the cliffhanger. The Tanners are only mentioned in it, they don't have any part other than that, and the tanners neighbors(raquel and whats his name) are also not in it either.

But people have said its funny even though it barely has anything to do with the old TV show. If it ever comes out on DVD, I'd rather try to Rent it first before buying it. But should I spend money just renting it? Is it worth it?

If the character of Alf makes you laugh, I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy it. Just remember it's neither a long episode of the series, or a Big Hollywood Movie...it's somewhere in between. But it's easily the best TV movie I've ever seen. (I hate TV movies).

It made me laugh, what else do you want? The weirdest thing about it, though, is the lack of laughtrack.

Censor *beep* Sucks.

It's hilarious, and I'd barely watched the TV show =D

It absolutely stinks. An insult to the series. Don't waste a minute of your time with this.

I feel sorry for people like "ozdavid" who are absolutely uncapable to apreciate a good movie like PROJECT ALF which is by the way definitely worth watching.
