Why is Martin Sheen in this movie?

Saw this on cable in work a few years back, I remember being astounded by the presence, however brief, of Martin Sheen. I just don't understand why he'd be in a TV movie adaptation of a fairly bog-standard '80s sitcom...? What gives? All I can think is he was a fan of the show, or a friend or relative of someone involved in the production? I know there has to be some explanation, and I must know. It's like a crossword clue - nothing hinges on it, but you have to know.

Anyone got any ideas?

He did make an appearence in the first episode as that character. They are just trying to find a way to link the first episode with the movie. And they needed a villan......

Um... I watched the first season a few weeks ago. If Martin Sheen was in it, I didn't notice. He's not listed in the series credits, either. I'll check again, though, thanks for responding.

The guy in the Pilot episode have some resemblance to Martin Sheen, but it's definitely not him.

I'm watching this movie now. Martin Sheen is definately in it.

He said martin sheen was not in the the pilot. He didn't say he's not in the movie. Pay attention.

It's quite normal for "bad" movies to feature a star very briefly, only so they can use the stars name or even picture on the cover/description of the movie, simply to help it sell.

Why stars that don't seem to need neither the money or the publicity do it, I don't know. But it's usually older stars that are not all that active anymore.
