How come BAFTAS ignored this completely?

Tha baffles me seriously! This movie took place in Europe

On the whole this movie didn't get the recognition it deserved anywhere. Possiblythe other movies that came out the same year outshone it, such as English Patient, Fargo, and Secrets and Lies, but maybe even more because "Portrait" was a little too "out of the box" and experimental in nature especially for the BAFTAs. I'm still surprised that Barbara Hershey wasn't at least nominated when you consider the other BAFTA nominees for that year.

I couldn't have said it better myself! Bt at least they Oscars gave it two nods, but it's shocking baftas didn't when the movie took place in Europe! Barabar should've won it.

Now that IMDB has made its ABSURD decision to take down these message boards, I WILL stay in touch with you! [email protected]

That ridiculous opening scene with all the contemporary women that looked like a Stayfree commercial pretty much killed any buzz for this film.

I always fast forward through it and I still think it should be chopped from the film.
