Why no professional help

In the 54. min I fed up with the film. Why don't they get any professional help and instead there is a continuous sayings about God and Jesus? I didn't like the film. Very irritating...
Telling about death to a little girl like her is a difficult job and requires professional psychological help. But Claire's sayings are meaningless; Jesus was alive, etc. After this Ponette started waiting her mother. Both Claire and her father are very incapable in handling and talking such a little girl. For the first time (or twice) I don't agree the IMDB grade and the awards the film got.

You realize this was a MOVIE right? You werent watching real life. A movie isnt bad because it doesnt follow along the way you think things should be done. A movie presents a story for better or worse. Its up to you to handle it.

In all cases I have ever seen of people explaining a death to a child, it was not "required" to have professional psychiatric help.

Ever consider that this film is about people who make mistakes and don’t make good choices? That is why stories are told. To examine flaws, imperfections, tragic choices, life, reality. It is not supposed to be an instructive documentary on how to help a child deal with the loss of a parent.

This thread is too old for a reply but as others have said, it's not a documentary. It's a movie...

I saw this film a long time ago and I thought it was really good. Heartbreaking but, very good, nonetheless.

Top notch acting from all the kids in this movie too. You really get the sense of watching real problems/drama and not just actors doing their thing. Which is probably the reason why it hit the OP so hard, he (or she) thought (s)he was watching something authentic and it upset the OP.

Really good movie in my opinion..
