Good post adam! I absolutly LOVE dolls its such a good movie. I just purchased dolly dearest and pin revenge on dvd today at best buy. I thought they were a rare find. of course ive seen and like puppet master and childs play. another one for ur list: demonic toys. why is leprecaun in there?
I agree that certain films do kind of rip-off each other, but if you think about it, they are still pretty original. Most people just assume that they are copies because killer dolls and/or puppets are involved in every one. I doubt when they were writing/filming, they were thinking "oh, let's try and copy this movie".
Actually Pinocchio's revenge and magic are psychological, its never made clear if there is even a living doll, it plays more on aspects of the human psyche.
The others you have listed are literally about living killer dolls.
First most of the doll movies you brought up Adam878 were done before Child's Play (1995). Yes indeed Pinocchio's Revenge (1996) was done a year after Child's Play. Might wanna get your facts straight there.
Puppet Master (1989) is in a league of it's own. Love them up until 6 when they *beep* up the puppets and the story. Dolls (1987) is another one along the same lines as Puppet Master. In all the dolls aren't evil but the people around them all.
Pinocchio's Revenge (1996) is about a puppet who was evil who FRAMED THE KIDS AROUND HIM WITH MURDER. I haven't seen Magic (1978) so I can't comment on it.
Child's Play (1995) is about a doll who is possessed with the spirit of an evil man and continues his killing spree.
I haven't seen Dolly Dearest (1992) so I can't comment on it. Leprechaun (1993) is not a doll movie, it's a elf movie.
Also way before those came The Twilight Zone - Living Doll (November 1st, 1963) Friday the 13th: The Series - The Inheritance (1987)
