NOT filmed in Berkeley!

The brief scene where the FBI are telling Professor Ringold not to allow George Malley access to the university staff was filmed on some kind of generic college campus, probably in Southern California. I am a Cal Berkeley alumnus. The only red brick building on campus is South Hall (1871)and it looks nothing like the buildings shown in this scene. Also, to drive from western Sonoma County to Berkeley in two hours, as the script allows, would be extremely problematic.

Feel better now? Because, nobody else really cares.

This movie was filmed in Auburn, California. I lived there, then, and we would go and watch them....downtown Auburn is where George's auto shop was. The scene you are talking about takes place at the old courthouse, there....

That scene was filmed at Santa Rosa Community College. Probably a quieter campus to shut down and set up a film crew. Even The Graduate’s famous Berkeley scenes were only partially shot at Cal. Several of the Elaine stalking scenes were shot at UCLA and USC. George should have taken his fertilizer research to the agriculture college at UC Davis.
