I consider Milos Forman and Oliver Stone to be guilty of promoting pornography in The People vs. Larry Flynt -- and therefore rape and other forms of violence against women and children.

I think claiming that this movie promotes pornography is a hell of a lot more ridiculous than the violent video game argument. I don't know how the makers could have possibly made it any clearer that the message isn't that Hustler = good.
sharelol, I always love how the "crazy feminists" love to ignore the fact that men and women were raping and murdering LONG before they invented pornography. In fact if you look at a crime almanac, murder and rape has historically gone down more and more over the centuries (though it spikes occasionally when the economy dips and people have idle unemployed time to burn).
Ironically though, you don't hear them celebrating the fact that, since pornography has come about, rape and murder has DECREASED more and more... you just hear them rambling on about how this sociologist or that psychiatrist did a study at some college and it's led that researcher to theorize that "men and woman rape because of porn". It's like they're totally closing themselves off to the obvious fact that... HEY! Socially, things have gotten a lot BETTER in the age of sexual freedom and pornography when compared to our historically brutal, sexually repressive past.

By the way, I was amazed this movie didn't have a higher rating. I originally saw this movie for the first time when I was a freshman in high school and it actually brought tears to my eyes in several scenes. It actually gave me a new direction in life for what I felt my purpose was in society and a new found love for the first amendment. In truth, no movie has ever affected me and my outlook on life in the way that this movie did.
Rape and murdering is part of the human nature, by not murdering and raping we're making a genetic experiment!! Yeah, I took a shot at envionmentalists too.
Have not watched this movie, but yes, it's not hard to figure out that porn would decrease rapes.
Rape is about power. It is not about sex. Why do you think people rape old ladies and even babies?

I think people are rating the story that was portrayed in the movie.
Whether or not that movie is based on real life, well isn't that always the question.
You would have to the basic concept of what is truth. Is it what the person portrayed, says what it is. Is Truth what other people say what happened. Or is it something in the middle. Rarely can we every have a "true". I assume that this movie is based on some truth.
Further the movie really is about Larry Flynt's fight for freedom of speech and his love for Althea. Ignoring the motivations of Larry Flynt's fighting for freedom of speech, the fact is, he did fight for it. As for Larry and Althea. I can't say whether or not he loved her and if she loved him and if that love was healthy but he seems to have always believed that he loved her.
Did I see the word Feminist?.

I bought at least a dozen Hustler before I gave up on it. I was interested in the naked women but the other stuff was just too much for me. The things it said was gross, violent and very sick. I did not have the impression it was being done for principal, I had the impression it was being done to shock. It was (I believe certainly) attempted to be as shocking as possible. I wish I had not torn up my copies, but I did not want people to suspect it was representative of me. They were awful.
