better than the graduate?

i dont quite understand why the graduate is somewhat untouchable regarding criticism but this movie seems to have an average rating. now i'm a lover of the new hollywood era and those 60s movies (bonnie & clyde, midnight cowboy, etc.) but pallbearer is a great movie!! to me it seems more 'real' than the graduate. less of a ridiculous premise (schwimmer doesnt have to save paltrow from a loveless marriage). there are definitely graduate overtones in pallbearer though, no denying that at least!

any opinions?

The Graduate was a technically well-made movie with a classic soundtrack. And it spoke to young people of its time. But yeah, it said little to us folks outside of that era.

I'm a bit younger than the characters in Pallbearer but definitely identify more with this story. BOTH of the female romantic interest characters were more interesting. Had a surprisingly cool soundtrack, too.
