Has anyone seen this?

I am a massive Peter Wingfield fan and would like to see this. Has anyone seen it and can give me a brief explanation or it including how big Peter's role is? I would deeply be indebted. Thanks.-TF

sure have, a great funny made for television movie. Was made for BBC and was named OVER HERE. But when I had seen it, the movie was named, OVER THERE. Peter was funny in it, he was the man that everyong hated, made jokes about him..ect..

I was an extra on the movie when it was being filmed in the summer of 1995. I'd love to see it on DVD A.S.A.P.

I saw this many moons ago and I agree, it should be made available on DVD or, at least repeated! I think it was repeated not long after it first aired and a couple of years ago on UK Drama but, alas no more! Please, please, please Mr BBC Man, if you're reading this, let's have some more! It stars my fave actor, Corey Johnson too, so apart from being an excellent drama just having him in it's enough for me! Oh and well done Robert, come on, tell us more about your adventures as an extra?

reply

I wrote to the BBC to ask whether they could supply this on DVD to me but it's not yet available apparently. Here is part of the reply I got:

"However, if you would like to make a suggestion for its release, can I
suggest you put it in writing to BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of
the BBC:

Commissioning Editor
BBC Worldwide Ltd
Woodlands
80 Wood Lane
London
W12 0TT"

If enough people write, maybe they will make it available?

reply

That must be the B.B.C.'s standard reply! I asked them the very same thing, wrote off to the address given but have heard nothing at all and that was back in October!

I was just nearly 10 years old at the time i seen it, I have a feeling some parts were filmed in Catterick Village, Where the pub is and the war memorial cross which archie(when he is old) rubs off a swastika chalked on it, Was it?

reply

The village used in the opening and closing shots was Castle Acre in Norfolk the war memorial was just a prop and the airfield scenes were filmed at RAF West Raynham and Sculthorpe

reply

Awesome! (though this is years past your post) I'm looking for it for my dad, he was an extra too! = D

reply

Robert, I was an extra on it also, but I returned to the USA in early 1996 and never got to see it. I hope they do produce a DVD or Blu-Ray of it for sale.

reply

It is very good, far better than most so called comedy dramas. Great cast, great locations and a clever script.

I loved this when it was on for the 50th Anniversary of D-Day. I still keep an eye out for it on similar anniversaries (11th Novemember, VE Day, VJ Day etc)to see if it is ever repeated. No luck since I saw it this once. A DVD release would be most welcome and would sit nicely next to Band of Brothers.
