Plastic Surgery

There were rumors I heard about Marilyn had plastic surgery on her nose because she thought it was too pudgy looking, was that true also? Even though I admire the talents of both Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino but why do they need two actresses to play one person? It's not like Marilyn and Norma Jean was not the same person instead of thinking that they are two different personalities. They could have choose one of those women to play her and dyed her hair platinum blonde or wig her of course then use extra makeup to fulfill the look, I mean c'mon.

Marilyn did have plastic surgery, on her nose and chin, I believe. I don't think it was a rumor, several biographies on Marilyn have mentioned the plastic surgery.
Perhaps a more informed MM fan can elaborate.

See what a difficult situation you've created. Proud of yourself now are you?

marilyn monroe did have plastic surgery, you can see the difference when you look at older pictures vs newer ones.
i think having two actresses playing the role(s?) was because they had to, to further the narrative, and further renforce that it was a huge change she underwent.
i think it was a great idea. and they both looked fabulous.
thats all.

I have also ready that Marilyn had painful electrolysis to give her a more attractive hairline.

That was Rita Hayworth,not Marilyn.

Actually, they both had that done.

Yes she did have plastic surgery. And the reason for 2 actresses for one role is because it wasn't really "1 role" she went through a major transformation to be Marilyn. Also it would have made production alot more work, time, and money. They did a lot of scenes together, and it was a lot better for their interactions. I thought it worked out nicely.

The idea was to show two different sides to her: The original wanna be movie star (Norma Jean) and the changes forced on her by others that got her there (Marilyn). Even though she became this Marilyn image, she was haunted by what she once was and wanted to be (Norma Jean) so the spirit of Norma Jean haunts her for the rest of her days. That was the idea here. Now, in real life, it probably didn't occur with Marilyn, but this was just an idea they used for the film.

I saw this one time when it first came out and never again. That scene where they show her getting her hairline altered was just horrific. I don't think I can ever watch this again. It wasn't a bad movie but it was just SO incredibly unpleasant to sit through. Maybe it's because I was a teenager and more sensitive when I saw it but ugh, I don't care to find out if that's all it was!

I think the idea behind the movie is a little crazy. I don't believe they were 2 different people or 2 different personas. They were the same person who went by different names.
