I have to watch this movie again. I haven't seen it since a couple years. But he killed his twin brother(I don't remember if it was his twin or just his brother) if I remembered. But his family thought it was an accident. They never talked about the brother's death maybe that why they seem that way. Especially the mother. Johnny Galecki's character grew up just believing he was going to get away with everything including murdering the girl. The parents probably not probably surely never paid him any attention. But I have to watch the whole movie again.

I’m watching this now. The death of one child can destroy a family. Each family member responds in different ways. Many times the response is not talking about it for the kids because it upsets mom and dad. We see early on the youngest son still wets the bed which can often be a cry for help psychologically. The father mentions Teddy wet the bed too for a long time. So this is about a broken family.
