But you forget the most amazing song in the entire movie

Some of my fave parts:

Danger walks the deck,
We say "What the heck?"
We laugh at the perils we're facing.
Every sorm we ride is its own reward
and people die by falling overboard

Hey ho! We'll go anywhere the wind is blowing

Hey ho! We'll go anywhere the wind is blowing
Hoist the sails and sing...
Sailing for adventure on the Big-Blue-Wet-Thing!

I love to see 'em cry when they walk the plank
I prefer to cut a throat
I love to hang 'em high and watch their little feet try to walk in the air while their faces turn blue-Just kidding
It's a good life on a boat

There are distant lands with burning sands
That call across the oceans
There are bingo games every fun-filled day
And Margaritas at the midnight buffet

There is a version of Pirates of the Carribean Dead Man's Chest that comes packaged with a CD containing 10 Disney Pirate songs.

At least two of the songs on there are from Muppet's Treasure Island.

Track 3 is the opening track. "Shiver my Timbers" that is heard as they are dragging the chest into the cave in Billy Bones' story.

Track 5 is "Sailing to adventure", the song listed above... ("Danger walks the deck, we say "What the Heck?"...)

Difference is, while they are the same songs, they are not the same recording... The voices are not as "Muppety". The music to "Shiver My Timbers" is quite good. The lyrics are nothing silly. The sound on this CD is actually quite menacing. So much so that I told my wife next year for Halloween I am going to decorate the house in a pirate theme and have this, and other piratey music, playing over the speakers.

"Sailing to Adventure" is quite good too. Again, all of the Muppety voices are replaced by different voices (as is "Jim Hawkin's" and Tim Curry's) and all of the little bits of dialogue are not there. The amazing thin is, there are parts that sound like this could have come direct from a broadway muiscal and not a "kids" movie.

Actually, it was hearing these two songs on the Bonus Pirates of the Carribean CD that made me go to the basement and dig out my old VHS copy of Muppet's Treasure Island and watch it for the first time in about 10 years.

Fantastic!!!

reply

I liked the opening song, the song when they left the docks, and Cabin Fever.

reply

Professional Pirate by far.

I've got almost all of the songs downloaded however. Haha.

reply

That one when they bury the treasure. I think that it's called 'dead man's chest'?

Cabin Fever. It's hillarious. Other than "We Won't Take No For An Answer" and "I'm Going To Go Back There Someday" it's the best Muppet song.

reply

"Shiver My Timbers" was good, but my favorite would have to be "Professional Pirate." That song simply rules.

reply

It started out being "Cabin Fever," but now, I like "Sailing to Adventure," too.

reply

My favorite is Sailing for Adventure.

All of them except Cabin Fever. That one I always fast forward through. It's stupid.

Obi-Wan: Ninth time. That business on Cato Neimodia doesn't count.

reply

What was that song that just happened?
what song?
Y'know...cabin fever ah!

I wanna be a producer...cause it's everything I'm NOT!

reply

My favourite song is either Shiver my Timbers, or the one Long John is singing when Jim is exploring the ship with Gonzo and Rizzo. I don't know what it's called, though, but I know it goes, "Put him in a long boat 'till he's sober, put him in a long boat 'till he's sober, put him in a long boat 'till he's sober early in the morning."

reply

I LOVE Professional Pirate, it's like, the theme song of my life!!

BTW: "put him in the long boat til he's sober" is actually a real song, not made for M.T.I.

Barbossa: There was a time when a pirate was free to make his own way in the world.

reply

I know it's a song not written for the movie, but that doesn't mean I can't like it. I just don't know what it's called.

reply

I'm sorry if I said that and you took it to be offensive. I really didn't mean to say it like that godzilla

Barbossa: There was a time when a pirate was free to make his own way in the world.

reply

The song is called "What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor?" or simply "Drunken Sailor"....good song - used to sing it at school.
My favourite song from the film is perhaps "Sailing For Adventure" but I love them all really - "Love Led Us Here" makes me laugh mainly because of the voices lol but they're all good.

reply

"Cabin Fever" because then all the characters just cut loose and that's when they're at their funniest.
I also really like "Shiver My Timbers".

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

reply

It's called, "What do you do with a drunken sailor". It's an old sea chanty.

One of the song's suggestions is to, "put him in bed with the Captain's daughter": He'd be better off in the row boat.

reply

"Professional Pirate"!! It describes my life perfectly! "Shiver my timbers" is a close second, though...

Give sanity a longer leash...for some of us have sharper teeth...

reply

I recently bought the movie after having not seen it in about 11 years (basically since the theatre release) and I fell in love with the songs all over again! My favorite is "Shiver my Timbers"... it's got something about it that just makes me love it!

reply

Like many people, "Professional Pirate" made me fall (again) for Tim Curry (dear lord he's sexy) and "Cabin Fever" is hysterical. "This once proud vessel has become a floating pyscho ward" still has me rolling when I watch that.

Why would I want to move to Utah? I love booze, caffeine and monogamy! H.S.

reply

Duh! Cabin Fever!

As my namesake may have noted, "It stinks!"

reply

"Professional Pirate". Because now I absolutely know that if I'm a Professional Pirate I don't have to wear a suit. This is very comforting information.
