Considering that it was made in 1996
The effects in this movie are fantastic!

It doesn't get enough credit.
shareThe British TV show How Do They Do That once did a segment that examined how the effects for the show were done.
For when two of the bump their belies together, one of the filmed shots had the actor bumping his belly with a guy in a full green suit against green screen. For a high five, they had a different actor high five the guy, and then superimposed a green screen of the actor pretending to give a high five without moving his arm. When put together, it looked like the high five arm of the different actor actually belonged to the main actor.
The fx really stand up well.
It's that man again!!
The special effects were child's play for a Hollywood movie made in 1996. They were doing believable scenes like that decades earlier, even on lowly TV shows, including soap operas, which were the lowest of the low. 1996 was well into the digital compositing era (which was first used in the mid '80s and was commonplace by '96), which makes scenes like that especially easy.
