More about the Movie!

"Mrs. Santa Claus", is set in the year 1910. In the build up to the big day, we find that all is not well in the North Pole. Mrs Claus is feeling left out of all the preperations and Santa is so caught up in jobs, reading letters and seperating the naughty & nice children that she feels like an invisible wife.

She had discovered a new route for Santa to take on Christmas Eve that would cut down his flying time, but her ideas are brushed off. She takes matters into her own hands and takes the sleigh, complete with Santa's reindeers to do a test run prior to Christmas Eve. But she gets caught in a bad storm and is forced to land in New York. To make matters worse Cupid injures one of his feet when landing.

Stranded in New York Mrs. Claus takes the name of "Mrs North". The other characters in the movie include Marcello the stableboy who promises to try and nurse Cupid back to health before Christmas, Sadie Lowenstein, a young girl dedicated to campaigning for votes for women and who Marcello admires from afar, Nora, a girl who dreams of being reunited with her mother who is miles away in Ireland and Augustus Tavish, a maker of inferior toys.

Mr's North will encounter all of these Characters & more, and they all have a story to tell. All of these people's stories are weaved together with some gorgeous songs "Avenue A" will stick in your mind for ages. "Whistle" "Almost Young" & "He Needs Me" are but a few of the other songs. It's unusual for a TV movie to recieve such lavish treatment, this was reminiscent of a Broadway musical from beginning to end. Mrs North has a memorable time in New York, but she also has to get back to the North Pole in time for Christmas Eve so that Santa can deliver his gifts to the world! Will he even know she's gone, or will he realise that it takes TWO to make Christmas?

I manged to track this one down on DVD, and it's now one to watch every year. :)
