'Extremely Funny' my ass!

who the hell would call this funny? wake up, people! this movie's the reason why the word anti-comedy exists. cause this thing fails at everything, it fails at being a comedy. i never laughed, i never smiled, i never chuckled in this thing. why did Ellen signed in this god awful project? and why did Nick Castle (Michael Myers himself) directed it? *beep* this movie!!

First of all, I hope stating my opinion about this film doesn't put me in the "troll" category, a term whose usage seems to work as a cheap ploy to instantly discredit one's point of view, if it doesn't agree with their own.

And yes, people who hate a film have EVERY right to come on here and state their opinion. There is a reason I felt compelled to come here: it's because as a discerning film buff, I value the time and attention I sacrifice when taking a chance on films. There are Soooooo many films being made now that one just simply doesn't have the time to spend on films that possess no artistic merit, not to mention a complete disregard for people's intelligence, taste, or patience. This film is completely uninspired in every way

So "Nikozguri", I couldn't agree more with what you said. I actually love Ellen's stand-up but this film, which was recommended to me for years by a good friend, is perhaps the WORST movie going experience of my life. Words can't describe how poorly made this film is on every level.

Aside from being just an abysmal failure, the film is underscored by a really palpable sense of sadness and contempt for humanity.

Watching the film, I was trying to make sense of what Nick Castle and co. were really trying to pull off here (by the way, "Halloween" is my favorite film of all time, so let's just say I WANTED to like this film, and gave it every chance in the book to save itself with even ONE small display of creativity or even a cheap laugh would have sufficed here, but no such luck.)

Part of me wondered if this was some sick joke on Ellen. As if the producers KNEW or SUSPECTED she was a lesbian (this was before she came out publicly) and decided to put her in a really piss-poor film and watch her crash and burn as they make her as uncomfortable as possible by sticking her in a role that (her sexuality aside) would have taken a MIRACLE for any actress to pull off (not even Meryl Streep could save this mess).

And what was with the final "romantic" scene at the end with her boyish co-worker? Were they supposed to end up together? Talk about ANTI-chemistry!

Oh, Ellen, I feel so sorry that you were tricked into wasting your precious time. I hope this abomination of a film doesn't discourage you from trying your hand at feature-film acting again. Because, I truly believe with a worthwhile script and talented director you could really shine in a leading role, comedic, or otherwise.
