Miss Wrong

Ellen DeGeneres was not the ideal actress to starring a film like this. As a straight, she doesn't convince. The screenplayers were awful too. The rest of the cast deserved a better movie. Too bad.

Honestly, the casting of Ellen in this movie just makes it that much funnier, to me. The movie would have been horrendous except for the unintentional meta-humor.

Doesnt matter, either way, in real life, or the film world...

She is Funny.
Period.

Well said, Emma! She is definitely a strong enough actress to play someone who is not exactly the same as she is in real life. She played straight for years on her show and did a great job. Plus, straight actors play gay all the time and no one thinks twice about it. It's ACTING!!

Anyway, I love the movie, I love Ellen, and I think I would watch her recite the dictionary.

nothing here to see just imminent danger in the middle of it ME!

People who say "I just don't buy him/her as straight" invariably already knew the actor or actress was gay before they saw them in that particular role, and just can't get their little minds past that fact. And they always have amnesia about NOT having a problem with a particular actor playing straight roles back before they knew that actor was gay.

Funny, you never hear those same people saying they just can't buy a straight actor playing a gay role. I guess a straight actor playing a gay role is "versatility," while a gay actor playing a straight role is just...disturbing, or scary, or wrong, or something.

No, we can get past it. This woman never seemed straight, before she made the big announcement. Nobody said it's very disturbing, or scary, or wrong--but that it doesn't click in this particular case.

reply

If she didn't seem straight, then coming out as gay wouldn't have been a big surprise if everyone know it. I agree with the person who says gay people can't play straight because people say that time and time again.
