Attention To Detail (Very minor spoiler)

I'd like to point out one part in the movie that I thought really showed great care for detail. The scene when at the last couple days of the war and he's going to his inlaws on a army issue mortorcycle he passes a German staff car that's being pulled by horses with a team driver walking along side. I think this must have been something Vonnegut saw at the end of the war and put in the book. Naturally by the end of the war there'd be an extreme shortage of fuel. But it just surprised me to see something like that in a movie. It really added depth I thought.

I thought the screenplay writer and director did a pretty good rendition of a classic Vonnegut. Unfortunately I haven't read Mother Night yet so I can't really speak to how close it followed the book. But like most of Vonnegut's stories there's several layers to it. This movie really did a good job of bringing us through all the layers. Just when you think thing might go one way something different happens and you go another way, and when you think you know what happened there....You find out you really don't.
