Whatever else, it's perfectly titled, and is about atmosphere

I don't think I would have watched this all the way through if I didn't want to critique it, and that's a point against the film.

That said, while it is one of the slowest moving films I ever saw (and I'm a bit attention deficit), it never fails to give us "atmosphere".

I didn't like the forty minutes of nothingness, but I think I watched it because I've driven through the Mojave. I used to take vacataions, when I could afford it, to LA, rent a car, and drive to Laughlin and Vegas.

And the slow start sort of reminds me of the trip through the desert, but then it becomes very tranquil, probably after the traditional stop at the ostrich farm cafe. Surely, I'm not the only one who's felt this way.

Little by little, it picks up, and I think the first real laugh comes at the "shootout" with the crack shots at the gas station-tire store.

This isn't a "roll over laughing" movie. It's a "charming" atmospheric movie. I think the director never loses focus on the title, and keeps it in this "warm cool" feel throughout.

"Mojave Moon" is about atmosphere, I think.

JFK blown away, what more do I have to say?

I highly doubt 7 years later on a message pulled from imdb, that you will see this, but I agree with your take on this being an Atmospheric movie. Movies set in the dessert (which this one is the majority of the time I think, some LA too) just have a certain feel. Isolated, open sky, sorta romantic, a little crazy. This movie also has a 90's feel to it.
