Barbra's 'transformation'

Is it me, or is there not much difference between the so called "ugly" Barbra and the "transformed" Barbra?

reply

Call me crazy, but I thought Barbra was pretty even before the "transformation." I didn't see why she felt she needed a makeover. Maybe I have vision problems, but I certainly didn't think she was homely. Sure, she wasn't glamorous nor did she wear very flattering clothes, but that doesn't necessarily make someone ugly, or was she just considered "Hollywood ugly?"

I think that was one thing that undermined the film, yeah. Just not enough difference between the two looks - size, hair, make-up...everything. She loses weight but she was never big initially anyway and noticed that Babs didn't even give her character padding...

I think she should have used her walk in the CU park look for her first glance after the transformation, the straight hair was much more of a change.
I have to admit the last time I watched the movie I was less shocked by her makeover. Indeed she hasn't really changed much, it' just a bad perm and lightened the hair and worn a tight dress.
But her transformation was so that she could feel pretty and desired physically, and it certainly worked for her.

Does anybody know if Barbra gain weight for the movie? Or did she just dress in baggy clothes?
