Andie Macdowell the Destroyer

William Hurt? Great start. Robert Pastorelli? Very nice (I miss him so much) Bob Hoskins? This is a great cast! AND John Travolta at the peak of his talent fresh off Pulp Fiction? Holy SMOKES! And he plays an angel? Brilliant! Wait...what? Are you kidding? Seriously, don't mess with me because I'm in a good mood. Really? Her? She's in another one? I thought they passed a law. Even after Groundhog Day? I don't understand. Why do they hate the audience? We buy the tickets.
Prepare to wince. Get ready to grind your teeth. Prepare to tell your friends this movies was amazing except for...ANDIE MACDOWELL!

You sure? I thought it was a comeback movie for the orangatan from 'everywhich way but loose'. Must be the dye job that fooled me.

You didn't like the great shot of the (actual) bridge over the Mississippi going from IA to IL in seach of the WLNSFP?

reply

I didn't mind Andie McDowell at all in this movie...I think her character was kind of annoying and maybe you were more put off by the character than the actress but McDowell was fine... I loved the song she sang about her three ex-husbands, one of the highlights of the film for me.

Andie MacDowell showed some acting chops here.

I too dislike her greatly, I also dislike her in groundhog day.

THANK YOU! She keeps this movie from being 10 stars IMO. She can't act and she sure as hell can't sing worth a damn. I have to mute her several times during the movie. If I'm watching on dvd - I fast forward. Yes the character is a bit annoying, but the actress (so called) makes it 200 times more annoying. She's even annoying in her 30 second Loreal commercials.

Who ever thought she could act to begin with? Who does she sleep with to get these roles?

And I agree- John was fabulous in this role. It was so perfect for him. I don't think he does enough comedy

Well, TYO, other people like her acting...for example, me. I always enjoy her in whatever she's in. I especially liked her in Groundhog day. I didn't care for Multiplicity all that much, but not because of AM.

my god its full of stars

Andie Macdowell is great in this. Definitely one of my fav actresses. The only thing I didn't like about her in this film is the horrible country music she attempted to sing/compose.

The character is an average gal, a freaking dog trainer. Who should have played it Sharon Stone?

reply

Always a pleasure to see her and yes, I loved her in Groundhog Day.

reply

Sharon Stone? Uh, no. But hundreds literally hundreds, of other actresses could have done a better job. They could have picked a random unknown from general casting and gotten a better performance.

reply

You're delusional. Andie MacDowell acts circles around your favorite actress.
