Questions about the Movie *SPOILERS*

First of all, I really enjoyed this movie! The storyline was brilliant and I think the acting was very good too.
There were just a few things I couldn't really understand:

Why Mr Hyde stomped on that little girl? Was there a reason, or did he just target her to show his brutality?

And inn Miss Farraday's home, why there was so much blood (and a rat) I thought this would be a way to frighten Mary, but that doesn't explain why the rat was gutted.

:-)

Those were great pumps.

I don't know the second one, but the first one was Hyde stomping on Mary-as-a-kid in one of her nightmares. The whole hyde=abusive-side-of-her-dad theme goin' on.

I think it was to just show his brutality.
And I didn't get the impression it was a dream at all. Mary watched it happen, and watched the payoff of the mother. Hyde then pursues her for seeing it, and later she sees a notation...for the same amount of money she saw handed over...marked as "Blood Money" in the doctor's ledger.

The blood in Mrs. Farraday's room was a bit confusing. From what Mrs Farraday and Doctor Jekyll said, I deduced that it was supposed to be an (illegal then) abortion for one of her prostitutes. But Mr. Hyde went nuts and either killed the woman or nearly did.
The dead rat was a reference, in reality and Hyde's mind, to Mary's relaying of being tormented by a rat in childhood.
It was partly a 'revenge' for Mary, and another excuse for him to butcher something else.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

Hmm. I did step out of the room a few times. Maybe there's a scene I missed.
