Prosecutor at Eichmann's trial

"In the place where I stand before you Judges of Israel to prosecute Adolf Eichmann, I do not stand alone. Standing with me at this moment, are six million prosecutors. But they cannot stand on their feet, [or] point a damning finger to the glass cell and to shout at the occupant 'I accuse', for their ashes have been scattered among the mounds of Auschwitz and the fields of Teblinka [and] has been washed in the forests of Poland and their graves are scattered over the length and breadth of Europe. Their blood cries out, but their voice cannot be heard. So therefore I shall act as their mouthpiece, and say in their name the awful accusation." -- Gideon Hausner, 1961
