one of the Best Movies ever made

Maachis depicts the political situation that existed (and to a lower degree, still exists) in the Punjab in the 1980s and 90s following the attack on the holiest Sikh shrine, the Golden Temple, and the retributive assassination of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which in turn triggered the anti-Sikh riots of November 1-3. The film follows the situation through the eyes of a young man who finds himself thrust into the world of insurgency after a close friend returns home after suffering brutal torture at the hands of the corrupt Punjab police system.

Agreed! I just watch it from to time to time to remind myself how much better my life is and how much worst it was for some of my elders.
