Why does the Balloon Move?

I don't understand how that balloon moves on the river at the end. Isn't that guy dead? Or is he?

he did not die. HE TURNED INTO A FISH. thats right, a fish. perhaps you missed all the fishy foreshadowing earlier in the movie, i don't know. the whole film is bad, but the ending is especially bad.

reply

yes, he turned into a fish (!)
I have to disagree with you though. I loved this film! It was really funny!

Though the ending was left to the imagination there was nothing bad about this film. I tend to agree that he didn't really die, but came back as a fish and that there may have been another guy earlier who was also offed by the sisters (in a chainsaw "accident") for the same reason: not being the marrying kind.

However, it held my attention the whole time, made me chuckle a lot and laugh out loud quite a few times as well, with its assortment of oddball characters and situations. I'd watch it again, gladly, and maybe even get something else out of it, which is the beauty of a cult film.

The fish is a symbol.
Babylonian mythology tells of two fishes that pushed ashore a giant egg, from which emerged the fertility corn-goddess Atargatis and her lover-son Ichthys, who dies and is reborn annually

Pisces is also opposite Virgo on the astrological sign, so draw your own conclusions.

-Or maybe it's just that Ken Sherry is slimy like a fish!

some need to go up 1 or down 1:

You're right. He's dead as a dodo. The fish is a metaphor, as the sisters are trying so hard to find a man to marry. He's a "fish" as in they are trying to get him hooked into marriage. Watch the commentary track, she explains it well.

And I also like the hint that the previous guy that the older sister almost married died in some chainsaw accident. I think he didn't want to get married either, and they offed him too.

A big fish or croc is dragging his body away.

i always thought he was part fish. if not, how did the commentary track explain the fat coming out near his ear when he eats the bacon?

i watched the movie last night on streaming Netflix so i wasn't able to see any commentary.

also, i didn't even think that the girls might have killed the ex-boyfriend with the chainsaw. good point. that makes sense now. ha.
