A little far fetched

This is yet another movie with some very good music as background to an incredible tale. If the people of the town were anxious to keep their secret, why did they put the correct date, June 27, on the tombstone of every victim? Further, would a minister of religion act in this way so as to carry on a tradition?

It's not like many outsiders traveled to the town and the game is only played once a year, so it'll be barely ever talked about or brought to the attention of an outsider. For all the outsiders that do come in, the last place they're going to go to is the cemetery to just up and see when people died and suspect something. There was really no worries here that the town couldn't display all the June 27th death dates to the victims who did die on that day.
