When Jason left New Hope why did he take the cops went back 2 New Hope. I never read the book.Did he really think that after the people try 2 kill him. Then after all these years will let outsider know what happens in their small little town. I didn't watch the end.He should've let it go unless the sherriff of New Hope came after him.

You basically answered your own question here. He took the cops back so he can show them how crooked the town was with the lottery game and expose it all. It didn't work. The first thing he should have done was take them to the cemetery.
