1. Fred's Transformation into Pete- Most insane part of the movie. Very freaky and reminded me of Eraserhead. Fred's cell wall turns into a scene of an exploding cabin backwards, we see the Lost Highway, Pete, and then Fred's painful transformation.

2. Mystery Man- When I think of Lost Highway this is the scene of I think of. Classic Lynch dread. Robert Blake is creepy as *beep* and in 2 places at once.

3. Alice's Striptease/I put a Spell On You- The Song works perfectly to create a seedy atmosphere.

4. This Magic Moment- Awesome song perfect representation of Pete's lust for Alice, while at the same time it brings back the character of Renee who was murdered, so its a bit creepy too.

5. TIE between: The tailgating scene and Pete freaking out a little bit seeing Spiders and moths in his room.

All fantastic scenes of course.

But the tie for #1 goes to your #2 and the tailgating scene sharing your #5 slot.

The Blake scene is as creepy as it gets and the tailgating scene is one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen in a film.

When Fred becomes Pete the camera dives into some pale quivering fleshy ‘duct’. What is that??

Not sure if you're asking what the creepiness of the fleshy duct scene is in comparison with the Mystery Man scene I alluded to or if you're asking me what that scene entails.

Well, either way I haven't really thought on it to be honest. I know Fred is going into his deep dive of escapism so I just assume that's Lynch's abstract and artistic way of capturing the inner state of Fred's mind, as it were.

One of the reasons why I love some of Lynch's work is that I have this initial reaction: "I loved it -- even I don't understand what I just saw I can't wait to see it again." Then I revisit the films and have fun trying to figure things out -- but I don't try too hard. I like there to be a mystery lingering a bit in my mind. Something I can come back and play with again.

I’m asking what the fleshy duct literally… is.

Fred’s brain..? Lynch does love a brain. But it looks more like a throat/gullet.

This will give me an excuse to watch the film again soon, probably this week, and I'll focus on that scene in particular and if I come away with something worthwhile I'll get back to you.
