Even though I like the film...

...I still feel that it was too scattered and lacked focus. I think Lynch took the same idea of a person unwilling to face reality and the whole "fantasy turned nightmare" element and executed it much, much better in a masterpiece that is Mulholland Drive.
Again, I still enjoyed it and Lynch still remains one of the few who manages to surprise with every movie he makes.

I feel the same. While I absolutely love the film, Blue Velvet and Muholland Drive set the stage as far as a "Cohesive" Blend of Weirdness and Surrealism. Both somehow maintain a path to follow, as odd as they may get. Lost Highway gets tangled up IMO of course. I do think it's his creepiest work though. And I see why it's many of his fans favorite of the bunch.
