Frances McDormand Bunny

I just saw this again last night and I did not notice this the first time I saw this film, but Frances McDormand's bipolar manic depressive, Bunny, was in a word, perfect! In just the one scene she is in, her performance explains her character's background, her relationship with her dad and the entire relationship between her and Sam and how it lead to thier breakup. And the wide range of emotions she goes through during her rant was IMHO, award worthy!

Yes... John Sayles must have written a backdrop a million miles long to cover all that history between them. The script, the acting, it's so good I don't have words... But getting all that on screen must be cinematic nirvana...

I posted the following on another thread:
I read an interview with Chris Cooper when he talked about how even though they were only in that one scene together, Sayles wrote an extensive backstory for Sam and Bunny, including how they met, what their courtship was like, what her father was like (who Sam worked for), etc. Between that and the great acting, I really felt like I was seeing two people who had a history together.
