I remember this one...

I didn't enjoy it in back in 1996. Starz network re-airs it from time to time. I didn't enjoy watching it again. It's not a good script. Not Simon's best. Julia Louis Dreyfuss looks gorgeous - as always. Odd seeing her and Michael Richards in this, although they are not in the same story. Madeline Kahn was wonderful as always. This was when NBC tried very hard to make a star of Jonathan Silverman. He was doing "The Single Guy" at this time. It reminds me of an episode of "The Love Boat."

It's not a good script, but the actors, director, and even the designers also conspired to assault and subdue what moments of humor there were, especially in Richards and Hagerty's segment. What could be raucous slapstick winds up looking like tragedy.

And yes, it is packed with NBC stars of the time and times past, to the extent that some of the roles teeter on the edge of miscast.

A lot of this script reminds me of Simon's much funnier Rumors, in which I have played the lady with the bad back crawling on the floor.
