Are we supposed to take this movie seriously?

I saw it for free. I would've been so pissed off if I had payed money for it. This is one of the DUMBEST movies I've ever seen. I pray that the makers of this movie weren't trying to make a real horror.

Plain and simple. It sucked.

But the boobs were nice :)

reply

Of course we're not supposed to take it seriously. I'm surprised that you actually had to ask that question.

reply

I didn't HAVE to ask it, I just felt it would be interesting to see other people's reactions. ;)

The people who understand that the Leprechaun series is intended to be a comedy-horror cheesefest can enjoy it. It's the people who try to take it seriously who scream about how much they hate it. Most of the people who "get it" don't worry too much about the opinions of people who don't get it. If anything, the complaints are kind of funny.

The only thing keeping me watching this movie is Warwick Davis as the Leprechaun. If not for him, the movie would be even more a complete and total disaster.

I'll come over there and slap you with an Altoids can...You'll be in pain, but minty fresh!

reply

This is true of every movie in the series!

reply

The fifth & sixth ones actually weren't TOTAL failures I thought.

This movie rocks. It's better than Citizen Kane.

reply

It's called Leprechaun in Space - I think that tells you all you need to know about how seriously to take it.

reply

how dare you! this is the greatest Leprechaun movie that I have seen, and the most accurate.
i'm delighted that someone has finally been able to tap in to fact that Leprechauns do in fact have routes in outer space.

A close second in my fav films of all time, just behind Octopus 2!

reply

the trailer makes it seem like its going to be almost a total comedy gore kinda like Lep 3 but when i saw this first it really wasnt to comedic (like 3)

now sure i knew it wasnt to be taken seriously but ... wait i forgot what i was going to say. nevermind. the movie is cheese. even if cheese trys to be serious its still cheese

reply

Typically horror-comedies are not to be taken seriously. I honestly loved Leprachaun 4 when I was a kid, not sure how much I'd like it now but being a Warwick Davis fan I'm sure I'd still have a lot of laughs. He does a great job with the character and that cannot be denied.

reply

I honestly think it's the worst one in the whole series. The Leprechaun series has always placed more emphasis on humor than on being a pure gore-fest horror series (to the point where it feels like the gore is added just like an afterthought). But this movie fails on both fronts.

reply

LOL. I seen it today on Sci Fi, and damn is it bad. I was LOLing left and right, and when the drag queen came out.. or cyborg, LOL. I think 4, 5, and 6 are all horrible.

The second one takes itself seriously?

.

reply

OMG, the scene where the leperchuan starts singing "oh Danny boy" to taunt a character by the same name is just pure classic... 8)

How can that be taken seriously??

Despite it's flaws, I still find this film fun and watchable...

I'm on the first scene right now, TORTURE. LOL The military aspect is cracking me up. Everything is over exaggerated. ATTTTTTTEEEEEN TION!

The costumes and makeup are so bad. Just cheesy. LOL

Well I love cheesy movies like this and grew up watching USA UP ALL NIGHT on the weekends and this kind of movie would have been shown late on a Friday or Saturday night back in the day when USA UP ALL NIGHT was on. Now that NBC bought out USA Network and has put crappy programming on there that network sucks!

Well it is kinda hard to take a movie seriously where one of the characters is killed off by having the title monster emerge from his penis (in what is most likely a parody of the chest buster scene in ALIEN).

reply

You are not suppose to take the movie seriously. Just have fun and enjoy viewing the movie. That is what I do when I watch any kind of movie that is out there except if it is about the military then I critique on what they did wrong in the film.

I think the films in this series give a big ol' "screw you" to serious storytelling. I mean... they're movies about a killer leprechaun. There's a running joke in the series where protagonists call for help and say a leprechaun is after them. The 'help' laughs and says, "sure. Good one." Then proceeds to do nothing at all.

I actually laughed at the end, where whats-his-face tries to enter in code at the end, gets attacked by the spider-thing, and... tries to swat it with his hat. Twas hilarious!

Someones head is turned into a pancake. Literally. I think that answers the question.

I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.

reply

It's a movie about a killer leprechaun in space. How are people supposed to take it?

Regardless, it wouldn't qualify as one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong... it was indeed dumb, but I've seen much, much worse. I've seen incredibly dumb movies which WERE meant to be taken seriously.
