Funny that Leprechaun 3 AND 4 were directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith

Leprechaun 3 is considered by many to be the best film in the series while on the flip side Lep 4 is considered the worst. I just found that a bit humorous that his only two entries in this franchise are polar opposites.

I've seen this happen a few times when sequels are directed back to back by the same person. I'm not sure why it happens though. Maybe budget issues? Maybe they just wanna try something different after the last experience? Who knows. Point is it almost never works and you usually end up with one great entry and one awful one.

And I agree that 3 is one of, if not the best, in the entire series. It's funny, it's gory, it's silly, it's fun, etc. I wish all the sequels were as good as that one.

What an absolute don. Both 3 & 4 are great.

A better example of what OP is talking about in the fact that Rick Rosenthal directed both Halloween II (1981) and Halloween: Resurrection (2002). One of the best examples of someone making a great entry into a franchise and arguably the worst as well.
