very good with only a few problems

I enjoyed Late Bloomers very much. The most interesting flaw was that of the daughter who was not merely unsupportive of her mom - that much I could understand of a teen - but actually condemned her mom's choice as much as the bigoted and close-minded parents at the PTA meeting.

The question this brings up is: Why was the daughter so homophobic? Did her parents rail on about gays? If yes, then her mom needed to explain this about-face. If no, then you'd think the daughter would be pretty accepting, especially given her own interest and experimentation in sex outside marriage.

As for the son, I would've thought he'd be a little more broken up over the destruction of his parent's marriage.

In other words, both kids did the opposite of what I would've thought they'd do.

I would've also liked to have seen more about the principal's and other teachers' opinions and whether they had any role in the firing. But the PTA meeting scene was pretty well done.

It's been awhile since I've see this movie, but it could be that the daughter may have been having "problems" with her sexual orientation.
