The last shot in the opening "flash forward" sequence, where Sandra is looking into the ambulance... behind her, on a building, is the number "666." Did anyone else notice that? And, more importantly: what's the point of that reference? I didn't detect anything about satan or hell etc anywhere else in the movie....

It might just be a coincidince. The number does come up in life just like the number 13 does. A high-school friend of mine lived at 666 Lakeshore. You also see it on many license plates.

If actually you look for it, you will see 666, 13, etc. in the background of plenty of movies in license plates, building numbers, and so on. Was the number in focus but the subject in the foreground out of focus? Did spooky music play when it showed it?

No, didn't notice that one, but I did notice that street number on Matt's building. It's 1666, but it's really hard to see the 1. You see it as Sandra and Matt are talking in front of his building. As the conversation goes on, he tells her that he lives in the basement and points down......

Yeah wow that is really interesting that you noticed that....I think that you know witchcraft and satanism plays a huge role in the story...maybe not so much in the film but if you read the short story, with her encounter with the dead bird and and the blood and whatnot (dont want to get too detailed about that), but yeah..the wya it is delivered gives off the impression of a very ritualistic, cultish kind of experience. Perhaps there is an important relationship between that experience and the numbers u noticed.....but yeah great eye!
