'ATTA BOY, LUTHER!'
During the final tournament, someone yells this as the crowd applause dies down. Anyone know if this was an inside joke or something?
It's a repeated line from the Don Knotts comedy "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken".

Yep it is from the movie "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken". For me this is the best line in "Kingpin". This line has been shouted in other movies here and there and I saw once a list of movies that it heard in. It is just a great reference that most of us that grew up in the 60's and 70's know well. My son once got in trouble at school for shouting "Atta boy Luther" at school functions at quiet moments - I was proud of him for it.
