I missed bits of this film. Did the mother abuse her kid or not??! Was she involved in Satanic rituals or not?
If she wasn't, why did the kid say she took him to a 'bad church', and know all the demon names?
Did the grandmother coach him??

She did not abuse the child, the grandmother coached him. I do think at some point the mom was considering herself to be a witch because of what she said at the bar.

Ah! Thanks. The grandmother was coaching him to...get him away from the daughter then? It seemed confusing, but I did wonder about the grandmother being nuts because the camera kept amusingly zooming in on her eyes which were as big as saucers.

I'm willing to suspend disbelief and roll with the flow in a movie such as this, but the part that REALLY didn't make sense to me was how the kid could identify the demons properly. He and his grandmother would have no idea in what order the doctor would show the pics to him or who they would be.
I liked the acting. Kate Jackson got progressively more maniacal until the end. I loved it. The kid was effective in some parts and "meh" in others.
Not a keeper, but I had fun with it.
I must disagree with the person who said Sarah was starting to believe she was a witch. She was drunk and angry in the bar and just goofing on the person by saying "I'll put a hex on you!"
