hmm....

First off I'd like to say I am shocked that no one has written on this board yet, secondly my opinon on the movie was deeply disturbed, and I just found it to be very sad, and just horrorfying. So yea, I don't know much on the real story, but im interested in learning about it.

I saw this movie years ago but never knew it was a true story until last night I was watching Forensic Files. Wow! These people were low down, AND, they had a record of doing this sort of thing several times before. How come they didn't get caught prior to THIS? Of course the names in this movie are different than what I saw on Forensic Files, but nonetheless, these people were sick, and seemed to have made their living off insurance scams.

Thanks for the link. Poor girl..what a sad story. It never stops amazing me how life itself is way stranger than fiction.

I read the book on which this movie is based and it's really a good read (wish I could remember the name though.) The movie really whitewashed the Virginia Reardon & her "gang" and actually the poor girl who was murdered wasn't quite like Danica McKellar portrayed her either--I remember that the girl wasn't just a girl who couldn't find her way; she was a little wild from what I remember. And they left out the part where the mother got the ball rolling by getting a friend from her church who was a lawyer to help her process her claim for the life insurance from her job--he wasn't even in the movie, replaced by the policeman played by Bruce Weitz.

Poor Winnie Cooper. I bet Kevin Arnold would be mourning for her right now.
