What was up with Jude's disgust at Arabella slaughtering the pig? He wasn't a vegetarian, so why was he so grossed out because Arabella stepped up to the plate and provided dinner?

You'd think someone who grew up on a mid-19th century farm wouldn't have such delicate sensibilities.
