Kate Winslet in all her glory: go see it

What surprised me most about was first the long completely nude scene where Kate shows all, including bush, and second the less attractive birth scene where you get a direct shot of her bleeding crotch...that seemed a bit unnecessary. But Kate looks as awesome in the nude as you would imagine, and you get to see plenty more than in Titanic. This movie is far superior for that reason alone!

Wow, I so don't remember the birth scene. Thank goodness! I'm not exactly a fan of on-screen crotches.

it is pretty graphic, i'm usually not too abashed about that type of thing, after all i am a female, the female form is nothing new to me. however, it does make you thinking about childbirth and how it is a gory process, not all glossed over like alot of people would like you to think.

do you remember when we used to sing: sha la la la la la la la la la te da?

reply

i know this was posted a long time ago, but i had to ask, what was in the scene, because i just bought and imported copy and there is not a graphic birthing scene, all you see is her face and knees.... wow, i'm so confused.

Well, it's a birthing scene, and we see Winslet's crotch covered with blood for about 10 seconds. You can see a head coming out. I'm thinking it was a prostetic device, but graphic nonetheless.

yeah, wow, that was deffinetly cut out of the version that i have. a friend told me that some imported movies are edited for content... i wonder if anything else was edited...? hmm...

I love that birth scene. It's graphic and unpleasant...but it's important because it shows Sue in real pain as she gives birth. It shows how pain and love (in this case for her child) go hand in hand. Which is one of the themes of the story.

Also, the show little Jude watching all of this. Which might seem perfectly natural for a young lad to be curious, and I can understand why big Jude wanted him to see how a child enters the world. Little did Jude and Sue know, that little Jude was a bit demented, and that watching the child birth probably did more harm than good.

Yes, this is one of Winslet's finest performances. She's always brilliant, so to say this is one of her most brilliant means a lot. It's a tragic film.

i got my copy on amazon.com, but if you purchase one, make sure it can be viewed in DVD players in whatever country you are living in because they can be different...

Sorry kiddo, how tormented you must be to think that way. Are you one of those who gets his thing out to do it in front of the screen? Whatever gets you off one could say but please try to keep it private.

When Sue is giving birth and screaming from the pain, Tom Cruise was originally in the scene saying, "Quiet! Stop screaming! It has to be a silent birth! L. Ron Hubbard will smite us!"

reply

Eh.... yes, sure... but...
Damn, forgot what I wanted to say, must be old age, don't seem to be able to straighten things out right anymore, join me, there's room enough.

Birth scene was a nonsense, just another one grossley over exaggerating a birth scene to show the suffering of woman You's think the kid was hacked out with a butchers clever.
