Where is the DVD?
Why is there no DVD of Jude?
I can't find it:S
the dvd is out of print, i just purchased a copy on ebay for 19$, which is the cheapest i could find... mine turned out to be an import and the box was in korean, but the movie was still in english and the actual picture was a little distorted because it was widescreen, but not formatted well... but it was not unwatchable... but if you want to see it, i would suggest buying it like i did, because i was not able to find it anywhere else... good luck.

I've owned my copy for a few years now. I don't know why it'd be out of print already, but some dvds eventually become that way. I read the book once and have seen the movie many times. Winslet is amazing. She's amazing in anything!!
"Don't talk to me about endings, dare the beginnings" [Jack Ketchum, 7/69]
i totally agree. i read the book before i saw the movie and thought it was amazing... i loved the movie if only for the beauty of all the landscapes and sets, and kate was fantastic, but i dodnt like how the book was adapted and how the ending was changed, i like the book 100x better, but i guess that usually how it goes...

i bought the same copy on ebay. the formatting is annoying. it's like 2.7:1 or something
shareI had to hunt down an authentic copy of it on eBay. It cost me $75, which isn't bad considering that the few copies for sale on Amazon usually run from $100-$250, and it was worth every penny; it's my second favorite movie of all time (after Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). I had a cheap Korean import before I found a real copy, but it had no extras, the menus were cheap looking, and all scenes with nudity had been edited out.
sharewow, 75$, thats a lot... :). yeah, the menue and stuff is pretty shabby on mine as well, but i just wanted to see the movie because i think kate is fantastic and i loved the book and i figured 19$ wouldnt be the end of the world if it was bad (i mean, how bad could it be, it was kate...) ... i dont think they edited any nude scenes in mine, but apparently there is a graphic birthing scene that is not on my copy... ooh well.... glad to hear you were able to find a real copy.

p.s.- the collectors edition of the eternal sunshine DVD is sooooo great, i hope you've seen it, if not, go check it out!
VaporFlux:
I concur; Jude is one of the best movies out there. It help that the book is brilliant. :d)
It is brilliant. I am kicking myself for not buying the DVD when I saw it in the stores last year. Who knew it would be out of print and so difficult to find? Looks like I'll need to pull out the old VHS copy and hook up my VCR so I can watch it again. Great, depressing movie!
Nie wieder Krieg! Nie wieder Faschismus!
i bought my copy on dvd for 4 pounds in asdas :s
shareFound that this can be purchased on Amazon.com through their "Used and new" service from $17.99 or from Amazon.co.uk brand new (not sure how much international postage is) for £5.97 (about $12)

Just buy the VHS of Jude since they don't have the dvd out yet. It's cheaper on Amazon when you buy it used.
shareYou can find a DVD from some online retailers in UK.
SendIt.com has one available at £5.99 + shipping (£1.60 to US or £1.75 to most of the places; free in UK. But its runtime has only 117 min, not the full version's 123 min.
I live in the Uk and I got my copy from play.com for £5.99 free delivery. i'm not sure if you can get it shipped to the US though you'd have to look. this is also only 117 mins long though.
shareI found my copy in a DVD store for about $20 Australian. It works really well, it says its digitally remastered. Its only 117 mins long too
shareI also bought mine from www.play.com. I buy almost all my DVDs from there nowadays, even though I live in Norway! Many of their DVDs are actually cheaper than what I would have to pay for them in Norway (and all their prices are with shipping costs included, amazing!).
I just wanted to mention that Play also have an American branch, and the address to that site is www.playusa.com. However, I checked out their stock, and they don't have the region 1 version of "Jude" in stock. In fact, they don't have it on their list at all, so there is a chance you won't be able to buy it from them in the near future as well.

The Bells! The Bells!
Remember it'll be region 2 if you buy it from the UK, and probably not region 1 format anywhere which would mean you have to have a multiregional dvd player in order to play it.
shareIm in Australia and you can buy it from ezy dvd for $19.95 Aus.They will ship it to you.
shareSomehow I don't expect a new version of DVD to be released anytime soon, so I bought my as used for about $25. I like the movie more each time I watch it.
sharePlease remember that it is only the out of production Region 1 version of this movie that is in the proper widescreen format. The region 2/4 version is cropped!
shareI haven't been able to go through all the other posts because my connection's slow at the moment, but you can get it at: ezydvd.com.au. It's an Australian DVD sale site, but they ship overseas, and at least you know that you're getting it from a reputable company with a secure site.
