Worst christmas movie ever made?

I really hated every minute of this piece of crap!
What an annoying, unfunny and boring movie!!

reply

Nobody cares that you don't like it.

Good news; I think there's a Pauly Shore marathon on one of the cable networks..

Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.

reply

You take life to seriously.

reply

Worst Christmas movie ever made? Not while Elf exists.

reply

Elf is actually, as of this writing in 2022, the last GREAT Christmas movie.

reply

I don't know, I could think of a lot of Christmas movies worse than this:

- Elf
- Four Christmases
- Christmas with the Kranks
- Deck the Halls
- Fred Clause
- Bad Santa

reply

Good list of stinkers.

Elf and the Kranks disappointed me so much in particular because I had such high hopes for them.

reply

Yeah, none of them makes you like the characters at all, and the humor is often disgusting or unfunny.

reply

I don't understand how anyone could not like Elf. It's fucking great.

reply

It's a matter of taste. So.e people don't have it. I'm okay with it.

reply

Only speaking for myself (there are a lot of people who hate Elf for reasons different than mine), it comes down mostly to Ferrell. The character Buddy was supposed to be innocent, charming, and lovable. Ferrell is none of those things as Buddy.

I'm a big fan of Caan, but I also think he was miscast badly. What I saw when I watched Elf was Will Ferrell and James Caan, not the characters.

reply

I guess it all comes down to opinion, because I have always thought that both were inspired casting.

Here's some trivia for you: Jim Carrey was initially eyed for the role of Buddy, but for whatever reason that didn't happen. Personally, I'm glad it didn't.

reply

Agree. I think that early on Carrey might have been able to pull it off, but he grew very unlikable over the years, a trait that carried over on screen. Carrey would have been a worse choice than Farrell for me (if that's possible!).

Chevy Chase is another flaming buttwad, but at least in the Vacation movies, he was able to pull off the sympathetic character. Later, he got so bad that anything he was in was unwatchable.

reply

I like Elf. I also found it very funny. I just watched it last night and was laughing hard all the way through.

reply

I can't stand Will Ferrel. Every movie he's been in is a pile of dog crap. Even Gary Cole couldn't save "Taladega Nights" with his redneck silliness.

reply

Totally agree. Farrell ruins everything he's in. The only thing that was remotely funny was the cowbell thing.

I wish someone would do a remake with a lead character that has some innate charm - something required for the character.

reply

Deck The Halls and Christmas with the Kranks are easily some of the worst Christmas movies ever made. Couldn't finish either of them.

reply

Like Elf. Love Bad Santa.

reply

Santa with Muscles is worse.

reply

Do I wanta know?

reply

It's boring and Hulk can't act.

reply

I would also say "Elf" and "Four Christmases".

reply

No way, this movie is a classic. It’s so ridiculous it’s funny.

reply

No and I never understand why it was so hated. Yeah, it goes off the rails in the climax, but otherwise it's a fun goofy Christmas movie with Arnie. Whats not to enjoy?

reply

Same; I like this movie a lot. I think because it took it as a fun jab at the Power Rangers hysteria (or any other hot toy but they were obviously going with Power Rangers here). I loved the Power Rangers so I got the comedy in all of it. I also really enjoy the parade sequence. Yes, it gets unrealistic with the jet pack, but I think it just adds to the charm.

reply

It's not good but Elf and the Jim Carrey Grinch are far worse.

reply

Forgot about the Jim Carrey Grinch. Both Grinch and Elf unwatchable.

reply

I haven't watched the animated Grinch movie that was made recently.

reply

You know what? I watched a small part of that version last night out of curiosity. It actually isn't that bad and seems to have the "Despicable Me" type humor throughout. I shut it off to watch it later complete because it caught my attention.

reply

I finally watched the 2018 animated Grinch movie and i must say I enjoyed it. It's not on the level of the classic cartoon but much better than the Jim Carrey Grinch movie.

reply

I still haven't caught it front to back! Every time I see it, it's part way through.
