Do all these police story movies continue from it's previous? I'm considering to just watch this one then go from there.

Police Story 2 picks up from the first film. First Strike however is a stand alone film and could easily have just been another Jackie Chan film but he is the same character from Police Story only in a more spy-adventure kind of film.
