This was just like Harry Potter (not a troll)

Jane's life (in the movie - never read the book) was JUST LIKE Harry Potter's for at least the first 20 minutes. Think about it:

* Same actress that played Jane's aunt also played Harry's aunt Petunia
* Both Harry and Jane's aunt were forced to care for them after the death of the child's parents
* Both Harry and Jane had a fat male cousin that mistreated them (I was totally waiting for the fat cousin to shove Jane into the closet under the stairs)
* Both Harry and Jane are ostracised by their 'new' families for being 'different'
* Both Harry and Jane are sent to a 'special' school
* Niether Harry not Jane have any experience with presents
* Both Harry and Jane's first friend at their new schools are redheads
* Both Schools have an overly intimidating male teacher (I expected the 'hair cutting dick' in Jane Eyre to go into a "There will be no wand-waving or sill incantations in my classroom" speech) who tries to break them into conformity

Just saying.

Haha!

Well, you're not wrong. :) Very good point, actually. Except Jane doesn't get off with Helen's brother in the end, nor does Ron die... and umm, there's no Adèle or Rochester in HP... although there is a mad woman (Bellatrix)... so umm, would that make Rochester Sirius Black or Lucius Malfoy? Either way, I'm not sure I want to follow that thought to its conclusion... *giggle*

Love 'em both, though. JE and HP. <3

I think you need to read the book.

There are some stories that get told over and over again, in different versions.

This story is the "Cinderella" story.

The "Cinderella" character doesn't have to be a girl. But they are a person who we know from the very start is special, and despite all the trials and tribulations, their special qualities (generally deep down goodness, courage, determination and generosity) help them win through.
