Flop film

This movie was SUPERFICIAL at best: It only touched on the idiocyncracies of the gay life style and DID NOT delve into any real issues concerning the gay culture. This was an attempt at a facade of a film. Kerri Jo Chapman was the only thing worth looking at in the movie as the remainder of the "actors" and extras looked like something dug out of a southern swamp.

Talk about superficial... sorry you didn't find every single person in the movie attractive. Since I'm sure you're incredibly gorgeous yourself, you should probably start acting so we won't be sickened anymore by ugly people in movies.

I don't think that every movie about homosexuals has to delve into real issues concerning gay culture, just like not every movie with black people needs to be about civil rights and discrimination, and not every movie with women needs to talk about sexism and discrimination. There were a lot of issues it touched on, although not in any deep way: coming out, family & friends' reactions, prejudice against gay people and aids patients, being married & realizing you're gay, the religious "No Gay No More" group (or whatever it was called). It was supposed to be a light-hearted, fluffy film. I agree it wasn't the best movie ever, but I think it's great that there are movies which address homosexuality at all, since that's still so rare from Hollywood. I would have been happier with fewer stereotypes, though; there were a lot of flaming gay men in leather and drag or who are interior designers.

Saw it when it premiered at the film festivals and thought it was fantastic (too bad they couldn't have had the opening sequence that appeared at the festival on the VHS) and have watched it many times since. Granted, I am a sucker for a happy ending in a movie (given that there are so many unhappy ones in real life).

Sure it was corny and sure there were stereotypes, but it's a COMEDY. Just imagine a film of super model clones (I personally didn't find anyone in the movie "ugly" - OK Dee, the counter lady at fredna's is a beauty queen - but for the sake of the reviewer m8 who did), all living a middle-of-the-road life (non-stereotypical ... although, what isn't stereotypical in some way ... Leave It to Beaver is a stereotype too), delving into all the serious and ugly issues concerning gay culture. Wouldn't have much of a comedy on your hands now would you? It was supposed to be over the top at times. All comedies are. They're not meant to be 100% "realistic". If one wants realism, watch a documentary.

I thought the film was wonderfully filmed (as good as any major Hollywood film in its look on screen, unlike many "gay" films) and acted. Campy and corny can very well acted and very badly acted, and in my opinion IITW did it very well, creating a nice balance between the camp-corn and the more serious emotions.

I absolutely loved Lily's facial expressions during the scene when she chastises Alex! She was brilliant. And the way they keep using the shoe thing throughout to add levity to otherwise serious moments was very effective.

The cover of the VHS box bills it as "An Outrageous Comedy With A Queer Little Twist!" and that is exactly what it delivers.

P.S. All the actors were good, but Keri Jo Chapman. WOW! In my books she ranks up there with any of the top Hollywood stars I've seen. Don't know why Hollywood hasn't snatched her up for other roles.

have to agree whole heartedly with your opinion, esp about Keri Jo Chapman :)

i thoroughly enjoyed this movie, it just needs to be watched by people with a sense of humour.

I agree too. What the hell happened to Keri Jo? She should have been snatched up. She was great in this movie and she's absolutely stunning. Her acting was a lot better than some of the crap actors we have on our screens at present. Although considering her co-star has to be one of the worst actresses i've seen, she was bound to look even better! But if this talk about making a sequel is true, hopefully she'll finally be noticed. When I first saw this movie a couple of years ago, I went on to the IMDB an Amazon to see what else she'd done. I was like 'where the hell are all her movies?' I couldn't believe there weren't more. I think if this movie had been a more serious movie and not as light hearted, it wouldn't have slipped through the gay movies list so quickly. Maybe people would have taken more notice of it, and Keri Jo. Here's to hopefully a sequel!

Hello,
I couldn't agree more, to say that the acting is crap is just s... I mean look around, how many actors or footballers are there who are just not worth the money but are paid and much to much too! (atleast we will be finally getting rid of Beckham) but hell Keri Jo is a real gem who has slipped through Hollywoods fingers or maybe she just didn't want to fall in to it!
