what's with the hotel scene - Alex + Grace

so Alex and Grace have acknowledged their attraction to each other, are on a weekend to the Big City, gone dancing at a Gay bar, had burgers with a Drag Queen and are now checked into a hotel. okay - i've been there ;-)

but then, Grace is wearing a freaking over-sized t-shirt and what, thumbing thru a magazine and Alex is around the corner brushing her teeth!?! if you turn down the dialog, you might think they are either an old married couple or college friends at a reunion.

seriously, does anyone act this way with a new love, nervous or not? would you stop to brush your teeth? hell, no - you close the door (if you make it that far) and start ripping each others' clothes off.

this was a very weird scene to me, and i've had sex in Texas.

ROFLMAO!
This is probably the funniest comment I've ever read on imdb! Kudos!

My question to you though is this: have you ever had sex in THAT hotel?

Nah, I get that scene. They both know the sex is going to happen. Grace looks freshly showered, the oversized t-shirt is something that could easily be taken off. Alex looked like she's freshening up, herself. Hence the teeth-brushing. She doesn't want bad breath to get in the way of an otherwise passionate experience.

keep in mind also, that they are not just random people they picked up in a bar. even though they are new lovers, they have been close friends since they were children, so it's not a "just sex" type scenario, they were both nervous about wanting it to go well, and not upset the other

I'm with firestorm on this one. I think that's exactly what it is. I've had the same scenario and we did just about the same thing, freshened up, took our time, relaxed, extremely nervous, all wanting it to be just right. no rushing

It was kind of weird for a second and then I was with firestorm. They were old friends and so they had a certain level of comfort with each other (established in earlier scenes) that didn't require a sudden 'fall into bed' scene.
